(Newswire.net — November 1, 2013) Darien, CT Darien Chiropractor Brian McKay has an unusual but loyal following of runners with a pianful condition called Plantar Fasciitis. In fact over 30% of the practice is made up of  these cases.

We started seeing a few people complaining of heel pain usually aggravated by racquet sports or running. They would ask me questions about which running shoes are the bset for Plantar fasciitis or what exercises should they do for plantar fasciitis. So I had to start looking into it. The more I looked the more I found.

Most treatment was aimed at the pain site which makes sense. But these people were not responding to conventional plantar fasciitis treatment. I started looking at the Gastocnemius, Soleus, Tibialis Anterior,Achilles Tendon and the extensor muscles of the lower leg as a source of pain. I found that there were numerous dense nodules in the muscle tissue that were very tender.

The tender points are adhesions that form on the fascial surfaces of the muscles. The muscles are covered by fascia, A muscle derives its’ shape from fascia. When fascia moves against fascia it should glide across each surface. When the muscles are out of balance the fascial plane becomes brittle causing increased friction. The friction causes the fascia to develope adhesions.

The adhesions restrict normal muscle movement and cause pain and complications further away and terminate at the bottom of the foot. So most people feel the pain in the bottom of the foot but it starts higher up.

By treating the fascia with a special technique called Graston and applying Cold Laser theapy we are able to treat these tough cases with great success. The results are fast and we are able to get our people running without pain in about 2 weeks.

The good news is that we have a lot of happy people running around without pain in their foot without having to resort to shots of cortisone or surgeries. The response has been great and now many people are being referred in by their podiatrists and primary care doctors.

At this point I plan on writing a book on the topic to reach more people to let them know that Plantar Fasciitis has a cure. I can be reached with the contact information below.
