Minnesota based game studio AMG Services recently announced the development of a new Android game entitled “Rock, Paper, Scissors, Shoot”. The game is a 2D platform shooter developed using the Unity game engine. “Rock, Paper, Scissors, Shoot” is currently being played by beta testers and is scheduled for full release in April.
“This is our third Android game, and our first side-scrolling title for the platform,” says Jason Briggs, AMG Services founder and lead programmer. “The concept for ‘Rock, Paper, Scissors, Shoot’ has been floating around the company for awhile, we’ve just been waiting for the right time to make it a reality.”
According to AMG Services, the new game alternates fast paced “shoote’em up” levels with 2D puzzle-solving levels. The game features cartoon style characters in a jungle-themed imaginary world. The puzzles in “Rock, Paper, Scissors, Shoot” involve competing against the artificial intelligence in challenges based on games of chance. “The whole thing started with the ideas for some puzzles,” says Jason Briggs of AMG Services. “One of our game designers came up with the idea while working on a game about a year ago, but his puzzles didn’t fit in with the game we were working on, so we put them aside. Since then, we’ve all been adding to the game of chance puzzle concepts that players will see in ‘Rock, Paper, Scissors, Shoot’. We actually have a whole shared file full of game ideas that eventually became the game we are about to release.”
AMG Services is releasing the Android version of the game first, with an iOS version to come later in the spring.
Jason Briggs commented on the development process for “Rock, Paper, Scissors, Shoot”: “The game is developed in Unity, so it is easy to deploy in both Android and iOS, but there are always last minute bugs to work out, so we wanted to focus on only one platform at a time. We chose to deploy on Android first because of the larger install base and the success that developers have had with free games on Android.”
“Rock, Paper, Scissors, Shoot” will be available for free from Google Play and other Android markets in the beginning of April. Gamers who want to beta-test the game can contact AMG Services on their website.
