(Newswire.net — April 21, 2014) Bournemouth, DORSET — There will be a traditional 41 gun salute in Green Park,London at midday today by the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery today to mark the Queen’s 88th birthday. From the Tower Wharf by the Tower of London, an hour later, the Honourable Artillery Company will fire a 62 gun salute.

The Queen is the most photographed person in the world due to her extensive public appearances both in the United Kingdom and around the world.

David Bailey. a photographer from Dartmoor has released a black and white head portrait of the Queen where she is relaxed and smiling wearing pearls and a dress by her personal assistant Angela Kelly.

This photograph commissioned on behalf of the Government’s Great Britain campaign is to help promote Britain as a world class destination for trade, tourism, investment and education and to showcase everything that is great about the UK to an international audience.

After more than 60 years on the throne there is no desire for the Queen to retire. She is the longest-lived and second- longest-reigning monarch of the United Kingdom and the second-longest-serving current head of state (after King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand).

On September 11 next year, Elizabeth II is set to outlast Queen Victoria by becoming the longest-reigning monarch in our history.

With a better diet and an active lifestyle the Queen may live longer than her mother the late Queen Elizabeth who lived to be 101.

The world will celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s 88th birthday today – long live the Queen!
