The Texas Media’s Best Kept Secret

Texas Democrat State Representative Ron Reynolds has a long history rich in felony arrests, misdemeanor violations, sanctions, suspensions, and a general lack of personal ethics. However, none of these issues has deterred him from seeking re-election to Texas House District 27.

When I read political activist Brittany Pounders article “Why Is Texas Media Largely Silent On Democrat Rep Ron Reynolds’ 10 Felony Indictments?” , I was twice shocked:

1. I had no idea as to the substantial number and the magnitude of the problems.

2. Why has the media not reported on these multiple, significant issues?

Here in Texas we have just completed a particularly nasty Primary Election process, and I, like most other Texans I have spoken to are completely fed up with all the negative campaign ads and charges back and forth between candidates. And some of these accusations may have been true – time will tell. But dragging up issues from 30 years ago, or spinning a picture or taking a comment to the negative for political gain is disgusting and despicable to most of us. And this is no attempt to unfairly destroy Mr. Reynolds character or reputation. He apparently has done that all by himself. Texas Monthly named Reynolds as one of Texas’ Worst Representatives. They said:

With all those pesky distractions, it’s no wonder that his legislative agenda was as thin as his principles. And while Reynolds maintains his innocence in his most recent case, there’s no doubt about the punishment for bringing dishonor to the Legislature: a spot on the Worst list. And we’re afraid there is no appeal for that.

Reynolds happens to be a Democrat, but even if he were a Republican, my question to the voters of his district would be the same…”Is this really the best person you can offer up as a candidate?”
