Are Tankless Water Heaters the Solution?

(Newswire.net — May 23, 2014) Durham, NC — When trying to cut back on bills electric is always an easy one to look at because what happens in the home has an impact on it. So can a tankless water heater be the solution that homeowners need? Will it be able to save homeowners money on their utility bill?

Most water heaters have an amount of gallons that they store, whether its 40, 50, or more. With a traditional water heater it stores the water in this tank and heats it up to the set temperature then keeps it there. This is a continuous process whether it is being used or not for example if the homeowner is on vacation it still runs. So how do tankless water heaters solve this?

A tankless water heater only heats water when it is needed. Instead of having a large holding tank full of hot water it only activates when hot water is needed. So if you don’t use the hot water for a while it’s not running. Additionally once the faucet is turned off the tankless water heater turns off.

This can lower electric bills significantly as it is no longer trying to keep a large body of water hot all the time. John Dietz from JD Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning said “Tankless Water Heaters are a very economical way to reduce electric bills and it doesn’t take long for it to pay for itself and then start giving back. Plus if a tankless water heater fails there is not a huge tank full of water that can break with it.” – http://www.JDServiceNow.com

There is more involved than just getting a tankless water heater and there is no guarantee that it will reduce the utility bill because it depends on usage. But it is worth investigating and seeing if it’s a solution worth pursuing.
