(Newswire.net — January 30, 2015) — World’s Tennis Champion No1 Novak Djokovic, had an unusual opponent, the WWII M1 Abrams Tank. The computer generated tank served grenades to a 27-year-old champion; however, the firepower simply wasn’t enough.
The mastermind behind the video is filmmaker and visual effects expert Michael Shanks. He selected the Rod Laver Arena at Melbourne Park as the battlefield of choice. He used original footages from a match Djokovic played at this year’s Australian Open tennis tournament where he just makes it to the finals.
Sheer power of the tank matched the Serb’s excellent backcourt game. Using its gun to hold the racquet, M1 dome rotates to return a series of Novak’s cross-court forehands. Tennis’ No1 gave his best shots, so M1 did the same representing crude power over agility. One of the grenade-like flaming ball ended up in the audience causing collateral damage.
The Belgrade native could only fend lethal shots by the power of his forehand so in the end tennis No1 remains victorious.
Djokovic was two times nominated the World’s Sportsmen of the Year, and he is well known for his fair-play on the men’s tennis tour. The M1 Abrams, however, takes loosing too serious. While the seven-time Grand Slam winner taps the gun of the tank, it blasts him across the field.
The video hit the Internet before Djokovic defeated Stanislaw Wawarinka in the semi-finals of the Australian Open. Now, he will face a more difficult opponent than M1 Abrams – Andy Murray.
Djokovic looks for a fifth Australian Open Crown in his career on Sunday.
