Over 100 employees at the Urgent Care Extra Arizona Corporate Office gathered used sneakers to support the Dunk Your Kicks fundraising efforts. “Urgent Care Extra was borne out of a desire to help people in local communities by offering urgent medical care in a walk in clinic that avoids the crowded, impersonal emergency rooms normally found at hospitals,” said co-founder, Dr. Jeff Sawyer. “Urgent Care Extra helping the fundraising efforts of Dunk Your Kicks and the Max Cure Foundation is a natural extension of our desire to help patients in critical need of attention no matter where they might be located.”
Dunk Your Kicks collects used sneakers and gives them to a recycler that sells them overseas in countries where people are in need of affordable clothing. The recycler gives $1 to Max Cure Foundation for each pair of sneakers. The money is used to fund pediatric cancer research, establish support programs for low income and military families of stricken children, and fund advocacy programs that seek increased government funding for pediatric cancer research.
