(Newswire.net — March 18, 2015) Las Vegas, NV — The agreed cigarette smoking ban to take effect in England on 1 October, was hailed by the chief medical officer, Prof Dame Sally Davies, as a significant triumph for protecting kid’s health from second-hand smoke. Members of parliament voted in favor of the measure, which won by 342 to 74 votes. Prof Kevin Fenton, the national director for health and wellness at Public Health England, additionally said… “Numerous moms and dads simply aren’t conscious of the fact that more than 80 % of secondary smoke is unnoticeable and odor-free, so a completely smoke-free house and car is definitely a strong and favorable step to safeguarding children’s health.”

Dr Penny Woods, the president of the British Lung Foundation, was also satisfied with the decision, stating… “This is a tremendous success for the half a million kids being exposed to secondary smoke in the family car each week in England. We prompt the government to reveal the same commitment to present standardized packaging for all tobacco items, to help secure the 200,000 kids taking up cigarette smoking every year in this country. We are positive that these measures together will show to be 2 of the most substantial milestones for public health since the smoke-free legislation was introduced back in 2007.”

Back home, and last week, a proposal to prohibit cigarette smoking in automobiles transporting children under 18 was heard in the state of New Hampshire. In Illinois, another statute was presented previously this year by Senator Ira Silverstein, and if passed, would forbid a person from operating a motor vehicle while a person in the automobile is smoking cigarettes, should a person under 18 years of age be present in the vehicle. This week, lawmakers shall be paying attention to arguments on a bill that would ban smoking cigarettes in a car with a minor present.

State Senator David Watters, who is the bill’s prime backer, has actually said… “The State has previously shown through seat-belt and other laws their desire to secure kids when present in a motor vehicle. I personally see this bill as an extension of that kind of protection.” Under the bill, those discovered cigarette smoking in a car with a minor present would be condemned of a violation and be handed a fine of $100. Maine also passed a similar law in 2008, banning smoking in a car where kids under 16 were also present.

Neil Speight, co-director of Freddie and Sebbie, daddy of 4, and devoted protector of enhanced security for children in vehicles, states that it’s certainly a start in the ideal direction. He includes… “I hope all US States will ultimately follow the example given on the opposite side of the Atlantic, but at least more US states are starting to pay attention to common sense. In such a minute refined area, it makes ideal sense to keep it clean in all aspects. No smoking is a piece of cake, but minor mishaps can also be triggered by mess and garbage being left in that very same refined area. I fortunately don’t smoke, and I have actually managed to train my 2 infant twins to toss any garbage straight into the vehicle trash can, making our automobile secure from any unforeseen health danger.”
