(Newswire.net — March 29, 2015) Clyde, NC — Bensie Boy announced their support for the new campaign aiming to reducing the amount of dog waste lying around the city.
Residents have been expressing disappointment in the treatment of public areas in Minnetonka by pet owners. The spring air is bringing to the fore the large amounts of dog waste left by pet owners around the city. Residents say, as the winter snow melts, they are being greeted by surprisingly large amounts of garbage and dog poop.
A citizen of the community took the imitative to do a cleanup drive last year and collected about 200 pounds of dog poop. The city has since made it a mandate to alleviate this issue which is said to affect the water system. According to Jo Colleran, Minnetonka’s natural resources manager, dog poop can end up in the water systems when they are washed into streams and lakes. This, she said, is hazardous to the human health.
Despite the use of posters and other educational programs, the problem has not subsided. To protect the water system, a dog poop cleanup was held on March 14. Colleran announced that the city will take additional actions to spread the message to help pet owners pick up their animal’s waste, including approaching veterinarians and pet-related business to help get the message out there.
In light of this ongoing issue, pet supplies and pet rescue company, Bensie Boy has suggested that pet owners in Minnetonka be more responsible with their pets when they walk in public. “As a pet owner, it is always your responsibility to clean up after your dog when you take them for a walk, commented Brenda Kinder, CEO at Bensie Boy. “Dog poop is hazardous to humans, the environment and to other pets so taking the time to scoop your dog’s poop with reliable dog poop bags can make a world of a difference,” she added.
The company suggested that Minnetonka residents with pets invest in sturdy, reliable dog poop bags that will help make poop cleaning less gross, such as their trademark waste bags. They also recommended that these pet owners ensure that they are always prepared when they go out with their dogs by having a stash of dog poop bags with them at all times.
