(Newswire.net — January 5, 2017) — Leaving a car unintended close to government buildings may result in destroying of whatever the police finds in it. If it’s suspicious enough, the bomb squad will blow it up. That’s precisely what happened when a man parked his vehicle with some suspicious kitchen items that could pas as a bomb, AP reported.

Unfortunate cooking device was considered possible exploding device and was destroyed along with some other items. Soon as he showed up, the owner of the car, Israel Shimeles, was arrested.

Shimeles is a resident of a Washington suburb of Alexandria, Virginia, and was not charged with terrorism, but for driving without license, which was revoked earlier.

Police Lt. Kimberly A. Schneider told The Associated Press that Capitol Police officers on routine patrol spotted a suspicious-looking parked vehicle around 5 p.m. Sunday. An unoccupied car was on a street, west of the Capitol building.

“Further investigation revealed a pressure cooker, and an odor of gasoline was detected,” Schneider said. He did not disclose exactly how the police officers found the cooker, whether was it on a back seat, in its original packaging, or whether they had to open the trunk to investigate further.

In any case, the patrol eventually called a bomb squad, which set off a controlled explosion and destroyed the cooking device after temporarily closing off the area this long Memorial Day holiday weekend, right around 7:45 p.m.

Schneider said “this safe disruption produced a loud bang,” however, didn’t disclose what other items bomb squad destroyed.

Schneider also said a follow-up search of the vehicle found nothing hazardous. The vehicle’s owner was arrested and charged with “operating after revocation,” Schneider told AP. She didn’t say moch more about the charges, or whether the unfortunate Mr. Shimeles contacted his layer.

Though FBI didn‘t comment on the case, Schneider said the agency assisted the city’s Metropolitan Police, as well as the US Secret Service.
