(Newswire.net — November 3, 2015) Kailua, HI — When the doors of his studios open for the annual Oahu Open Studios Tour, Hawaii artist Thomas Deir will unveil his new line of artwork, Abstract Hawaii Paintings. Deir, a popular local artist known for his realism technique of capturing Hawaii subject matter on canvas and tile murals, has embraced a new expression. In addition to his popular works of art, about 21 new Abstract Hawaii Paintings will be on view at his home studio Saturday and Sunday, November 7 and 8, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days. Thomas Deir Studios is open to the general public for two days only during the Oahu Open Studios Tour.

Thousands of people enjoy Thomas Deir’s tile murals in public and commercial locations including the entrance of Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve and Beach Park the Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort and the Hale Koa Hotel. Although Abstract Hawaii Paintings is a departure from the realistic style tropical artwork that helped launch his popularity, the new artistic style continues his expression of his deep gratitude for the beauty that surrounds him and his positive approach to life.

“For several years I have working on techniques to capture another expression of Hawaii. Abstract Hawaii Paintings is an addition to the artwork we create at Thomas Deir Studios,” said Deir. The annual Oahu Open Studios tour is my opportunity to relax and talk story with clients, whom I consider friends, and meet new people. The first year we opened our studios to the general public for the tour I thought it would be overwhelming, and as it wasn’t. I really enjoy to just have folks come and talk story.”

The annual tour event will also feature his popular paintings and Giclée canvas reproductions – many at deeply discounted prices. “Recently two galleries on Oahu closed and I’ve have much too much inventory. It will be first come first served for ridiculously low pricing; I have about 50 pieces of framed and unframed art that will be discounted,” said Deir.

Thomas Deir Studios will be open to the public for two days only, Saturday and Sunday, November 7 and 8, from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm., at 1311 Kika Street in Maunawili Estates, Kailua, located on Oahu’s windward side. Deir’s studios are fascinating and have two distinct functions. One studio is for painting on canvas where Deir produces most of his original tropical artwork with a paint he invented. The other studio is for creating his tile murals and mosaics. The Hawaii tile artist designs, paints and manufactures his tile murals in his tile and mosaics studio. The hand-painted tiles are fired in his kiln. His mosaics featuring Hawaiian green sea turtles are hand cut from marble or granite, painted, fired and set on nylon mesh making it ready for installation in floors or counter tops. Thomas Deir Studios produces tile murals for residential and commercial properties. The most popular items for homes are tile murals for kitchens or bathrooms. The full collection of artwork can be seen online at http://www.thomasdeir.com.
