(Newswire.net — November 20, 2015) Bryan, TEXAS –One of the largest mechanical contractors in Texas, Garrett Mechanical, Inc. has announced it has been given notice to proceed with installation of HVAC and plumbing at the Texas A & M Engineering Education Complex. The initiative is part of Bid Package 4 from Vaughn Construction, which has served higher education clients for the past 25+ years. Site utilities and underfloor plumbing, completed as bid packages 2 and 3, have already been completed as part of GMI’s $23 million contract.
One of the largest projects in the history of Texas A&M, the $168 million upgrade and expansion of the Zachry Engineering Center (according to the Dwight Look College of Engineering) should be completed by 2017. The project is just one of several renovations to the main campus of the Texas A&M University System, located in College Station, costing about $352 million.
The expansion/upgrade to the complex will transform the 40+ year old building into the Engineering Education Complex. Additional university projects will include an expansion and overhaul of the Corps of Cadets dormitories and improvements to the Commons Building.
“Construction of Texas A&M’s Engineering Education Complex is no small feat,” Larry Garrett, Vice-President of GMI, said. “We’ve already installed site utilities and underfloor plumbing in earlier stages. The next phase is to install HVAC and plumbing facility-wide. The largest college on the campus, the engineering school serves as many as 14,000 students at a time. Our experience and dedication to excellence means all students and faculty members will always have reliable utilities, plumbing, and heating/cooling.”
Since 1988, GMI has worked with hundreds of general contractors. The company’s highly trained professionals have taken on projects of any size or complexity, including plumbing, piping, utilities, and sheet metal work on large commercial and industrial jobs. It has completed projects for several Texas A&M University system buildings and also the University of Texas Health Science Center.
Garrett Mechanical has also been called on for the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum in College Station. It’s been a major player in several hospital renovations and expansions. Past projects include the Children’s Hospital of San Antonio, HVAC/pluming at a replacement facility for the Medical Center of Southeast Texas, and contract work at the Scott & White Memorial Hospital Center for Advanced Medicine.
Garrett Mechanical has been awarded construction projects at some of the most prestigious institutions and facilities in Texas.
