(Newswire.net — December 22, 2015) — How Does a One-Time Bankruptcy Lawyer Wind Up Authoring Her First Children’s Book About Flying Clams and Cowboy Squids?

Carla Faraldo has just published her five-star rated children’s book Oceanic Tales: From Squids down to Whales, intended to inspire 3 to 6 year olds’ imagination and creativity. The beautiful, fun and smart ocean-themed book introduces early learners to our friends from the sea.

The former bankruptcy attorney and Department Head in a New York law firm quit her job at a top employer in Toronto to prepare for the arrival of her first child.

Her new life focus of being a mother and house spouse was now more time- and energy-consuming than any of her previous work roles.

Her daughter is now an active, rambunctious and ever-curious 18-month old, which means that Carla’s days are packed to the brim with toddler classes, play dates, toys, books and dirty diapers.

Not satisfied with leaving the few remaining hours (or minutes) of free time in her day to idleness, Carla set out to accomplish a dream set years ago: to write a children’s book.

The content came easily enough, since Carla has always had a vibrant imagination and an ease of communicating with words. She has also, more than once, been herself likened to a cartoon character by friends and family.

One of the real challenges in getting this picture book ready was finding the right illustrator to depict Carla’s vision. After several weeks of searching and conducting trial illustrations, she was lucky enough to find one that suited Oceanic Tales perfectly.

Carla took a hands-on approach with the Kindle version of her book, using the Kindle Kids’ Book Creator to create it herself!

It reads beautifully on the Kindle app for iPad, complete with text pop-ups for those who find the smaller letters in the Kindle picture books difficult to read. For parents who want something larger than a tablet or Kindle to read from, the book works beautifully on the Kindle Cloud Reader (free), which opens right in a browser or, of course, there is the wonderful and traditional paperback option.

The inspiration of Oceanic Tales comes from her daughter’s keen interest in clams, crabs and other marine life.

The innovative and fresh book features vignettes about animals with professions and hobbies. A shark paints his next masterpiece, a lobster sings opera for her fishy friends and a shrimp tailors outfits for sea royalty. These are just a few of the characters children will meet along the way in Oceanic Tales.

Whimsical rhymes coupled with brilliant illustrations make this introduction to sea animals and various professions and pastimes a perfect read-aloud book.

Oceanic Tales: From Squids down to Whales is available in print and Kindle format on Amazon.
