(Newswire.net — December 22, 2015) — Only a few days after the premiere on December 14th, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” , grossed $238 million in North America, and $517 million for a global launch, said The Hollywood Reporter.
Other records broken by “The Force Awakens” in North America include:
– Widest December release of all time (4,134 theaters)

– Biggest single day and biggest opening day ($120.5 million)
– First film to cross $100 million in a single day

Abram’s sequel happens 30 years after the events of “Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi”. It is the seventh instalment in the epic science-fiction franchise created by George Lucas in 1977.
Disney spent more than 200 million dollars to make this film, but all the money and effort apparently paid off.
Some fans stood ten days before the premiere, in front of the famous Grauman’s “Chinese theater” on Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles, to buy a ticket! An Australian couple married while in line for the film, Barack Obama on Friday, ended a news conference saying he needed to head to the White House to watch the movie. Hillary Clinton closed the Democratic debate on Saturday with: “May the Force be with you”, The Guardian reports.
“The Force Awakens” is directed by J.J. Abrams, screenwriters are Lawrence Kasdan, J.J. Abrams, Michael Arndt, George Lucas, and major roles played by Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, and Andy Serkis.
The film lasts 2 hours and 15 minutes. The reviews are good, no one complained that they got bored or that the movie didn’t live up to the “hype”.  Feel free to buy popcorn, sit back in a comfortable cinema chair, and let yourself be carried away to “a galaxy far, far away”, but only if you can find a ticket!
