(Newswire.net — May 30, 2016) Arlington, TEXAS –Accurate Electrical Systems has been a force in the electrical repair and remodel market for some time, and plans to continue its position even as changes to the electrical grid are ongoing. There are new technologies reshaping how electricity is generated and delivered, and the business models of utilities are rapidly changing, according to Utility Dive. Energy monopolies are being replaced by companies specializing in power plants, grids, and energy marketing. Yet, older wiring systems and appliances, for example, need to be maintained, and remodeling to upgrade to newer technologies is a challenge. That’s where AES comes in and is prepared to assist customers wherever necessary.

Coal is on the decline and natural gas is on the rise. Renewable energy, such as solar and wind power, is increasing for markets across the board, from industrial facilities to residential customers. Residential solar installations require adapting equipment to current systems or swapping out old infrastructure entirely.

The changes go beyond what AES can do for a home or business. Grid modernizations are requiring at least 7,000 miles of transmission line additions. In accordance with the Clean Power Plan, more lines will likely be needed. One reason is to accommodate two-way power flows, energy storage infrastructure, and smart meters. Facilities for large scale energy storage are cropping up as well, serving applications such as solar for charging a battery, and the ability to discharge energy during the evening.

Utilities are also moving toward serving customers directly. They can now allow customers to manage their energy use. Some are supplying mobile apps for tracking and controlling energy usage. People also have options to pay bills and report outages online. Special packages for connected homes are being offered as part of collaborations between utilities and third-party vendors. This is allowing for things like linking rooftop solar arrays to smart thermostats or storage, and controlling all of this through the web. Users can also manage when power is stored or sent out to the grid.

Maggie Smith, President of AES, said, “The energy market sure has changed in a few short years. With all the new technology and options, it’s important not to forget about the condition of wiring, appliances, and other electrical equipment. The grid may be smarter, but parts still wear and age. We’re here to serve all electrical needs and continue to be on top of the latest changes, and repair and remodel needs, in Dallas-Fort Worth.”
