(Newswire.net — July 4, 2016) — Washington, DC – An awkward encounter on Monday raised eyebrows, after former US president Bill Clinton meet Loretta Lynch, a key person in determining the outcome of an ongoing investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server, USA Today reported.

After Bill Clinton found himself at Phoenix’s Sky Harbor International Airport at the same time as Attorney General Loretta Lynch, he decided to “say hello”. The two didn’t discuss Hillary’s case, Lynch said.

“I did see President Clinton at the Phoenix airport as I was leaving, and he spoke to myself and my husband on the plane,” Lynch told reporters.

In addition, Lynch explained to reporters that Bill talked mostly about his grandchildren.

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump accused Bill Clinton and Loretta Lynch of displaying bad judgment after the two shared a flight in the middle of the federal investigation.

“It’s unheard of,” Trump told ABC News referring to the Bill Clinton’s meeting with the General Attorney.

“There was no discussion of any matter pending for the department or any matter pending for any other body,” Lynch stressed while reporting that the two also discussed Janet Reno, who served as Attorney General during the Clinton administration.

In addition, Lynch said the only news they had discussed was Brexit, and disputed any comments about the opportunity they had to discuss Benghazi or the private e-mail server case.

“There was no discussion of Benghazi, no discussion of the State Department emails,” Lynch told reporters.

The meeting, however, drew criticism from Democrats as well. Former political strategist for the Obama administration said he trusted the two didn’t discuss anything improper, but it was “foolish to create such optics.”

Although the questions were unpleasant, White House press secretary Josh Earnest told media that Lynch had adequately addressed questions about the meeting.
