(Newswire.net — July 11, 2016) Oxnard, California — Channel Islands Sportfishing, has facilitated another world record catch on one of their sportfishing boats. Sierra Perez, from Sunland, California, successfully made a 54.5 pound-catch aboard the Mirage Sportfishing boat which departed from Channel Islands Sportfishing Center in Oxnard, California. Pending International Game Fish Association (IGFA) approval, Perez will hold the Women’s 50 lb line class record for California Halibut.

The IGFA is a non-profit organization that is committed to the conservation of game fish as well as the promotion of ethical, responsible angling practices through education, science, rule making and record keeping. The organization has a complete list of all the world records in the industry, which can be searched by species, angler’s name, country and line class, pending or vacant records on their website.

This isn’t the first time a world record has been set aboard a Channel Islands Sportfishing boat. Two IGFA World Records were set in 2011. Michael Schweit caught an 11lb 13oz white seabass at Santa Cruz Island aboard the Sea Jay and Francisco Rivera caught a 67lb 5oz, California Halibut at Santa Rosa Island. Another IGFA World Record California Halibut catch of 54lbs 14oz in the Jr Male Division was made by Daniel Hadawi in 2014.

The owners and crew at Mirage Sportfishing are extremely excited for Sierra Perez’s fish to be added to the Men’s IGFA 50 pound class records held by Franciso Rivera and Daniel Hadawi both caught on the Mirage.

The Mirage is an angler friendly and spacious sportfishing boat equipped with the latest technologies, including state-of-the-art navigational systems, side scanning sonar, and fish finders. It is equipped with an RSW refrigerated fish hold and huge bait tank as well. Every year, the Mirage is recognized as one of the top producing boats in the state of California. Its relaxed environment does not only offer an enjoyable and comfortable experience, it also allows anglers to pace themselves appropriately and to have as much fun as they can have on their trip. The sportfishing boat also offers excellent food with additional alternative menu options for the health conscious.

The Mirage is just one of the fishing boats in the Channel Islands Sportfishing fleet. The company has many other fishing boats, such as Aloha Spirit, Bella Luna, Erna B, Pacific Islander, Seabiscuit, Speed Twin, Island Talk, Constitution, Sea Jay, Ranger 85, Gentleman, and Cobra.
