(Newswire.net — November 14, 2016) Las Vegas, NV — Renowned and well-experienced researchers continue to investigate the effects of a wide variety of natural, therapeutic alternatives such as turmeric. This ancient spice is thought to be helpful to various body organs, including the heart.

Turmeric has the potential to enhance postprandial flow-mediated vasodilation (FMD). The heart is susceptible to a range of conditions. Some of the most common factors that trigger the development of heart conditions are having unhealthy diet and lifestyle.

The Nutrition Journal published a study called the “A Single Consumption of Curry Improved Postprandial Endothelial Function in Healthy Male Subjects: A Randomized, Controlled Crossover Trial.” The researchers conducted the study to see the effects of certain diets on the blood vessels before and after meals.

The study involved 14 healthy participants with an average age of 45 years. Half of the participants were given a spice-free control meal and the other had a single-serving of curry meal.

The post-meal measurements revealed that the group of participants fed with curry dishes experienced a significant increase in the blood flow through the blood vessels. More importantly, it was found that they achieved an increase in the postprandial flow-mediated vasodilation (FMD).

The researchers also revealed that there was reduced blood flow in the curry-free control group. Based on the findings of the study, the researchers suggested that curry has the potential to inhibit the unhealthy effects of eating food.

Curry contains curcumin, which is a polyphenol found in the ancient spice called turmeric. Turmeric has been utilized for thousands of years to help fight a range of conditions, especially in traditional Chinese and Ayurveda medicine.

Curcumin contains a variety of ingredients that are believed to contain antibacterial, antiviral, antioxidant, antiseptic, anti-carcinogenic, and anti-inflammatory properties. It is believed to have the potential to inhibit the contraction of the endothelium, which is the inner lining of the blood vessels.

The possible antioxidant properties of turmeric are thought to reduce the likelihood of cardiovascular events. This phytochemical is even thought to have the potential to fight diabetes, atherosclerosis, and other conditions.

Turmeric powder is an excellent ingredient for a range of delectable dishes and beverages. However, there are also curcumin supplements available for individuals who want to take higher doses of the phytochemical.

There are many curcumin supplements available nowadays, and the most popular of which contain other potentially beneficial ingredients. One of these ingredients is piperine, which is a black pepper extract. This potential bioavailability-enhancing ingredient is believed to function by increasing the delivery of curcumin inside the body.
