(Newswire.net — February 2, 2017) Wilmington, DE — Foot discomfort and pain can happen due to a variety of reasons. Foot pain can happen to people of all ages, but it is believed to be prevalent among teenagers.

According to the survey conducted by the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA), six out of ten teenagers suffer from foot pain.

Foot pain is believed to be caused by sports activities in people belonging to this age-bracket. The organization also reveals that two from 10 teens experience pain due to the use of high heels and other uncomfortable shoes.

In the same survey, it was also found that less than two out of 10 teenagers have never visited a podiatrist to have foot problems treated.

Joseph M. Caporusso, DPM, APMA president, states that foot health is vital in a person’s health and well-being. This is especially true to teenagers whose feet are still growing.

He also added that the survey demonstrates only around half of teens recognize their feet to be important to their overall health. However, many of them are living with foot pain.

Educating teens is essential to care for the feet properly. They should be provided with the right information when it comes to visiting the podiatrist. Podiatrists could be extremely helpful since they take care of the health of the foot and ankle.

In the survey, APMA accumulated the opinions of 1,000 teenagers and determine their response or attitudes toward foot care and foot health. The researchers also tried to determine their experience with podiatrists.

It was found that nearly half reported that sport caused their foot pain. The study also reveals that seventy-five percent of high school students played recreational or school sport. Almost 40 percent of the group suffered from injury while engaging in sports. There were also gender differences when it came to the manner that teens care for their feet.

Teenagers are advised to wear proper footwear. They need to wear a pair that can offer protection against an injury. They should wear footwear with the right size.

Teenagers are also advised to practice proper foot care routine. They need to wash their feet, keep them dry, and use the moisturizer.
They should also keep their feet safe from certain foot problems, which include calluses. Callus formation takes place when the skin is constantly exposed to pressure or friction.

There are ways to buff calluses, and one is through the use of an electric callus remover from Naressa. This product is extremely popular nowadays, especially that it is easy and effective to use.
