(Newswire.net — February 15, 2017) Las Vegas, NV — Turmeric belongs to the ginger family, and is a kitchen ingredient often used in Indian and Pakistani cuisines. It has a long history of medical use and has been believed to offer a myriad of health benefits. Individuals who are suffering from certain medical conditions may take into account the use of this unique ingredient.

Individuals with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis may potentially benefit from the use of turmeric. There are several reasons why turmeric is believed to be capable of providing some therapeutic benefits, and one is the phytochemical it contains.

Its phytochemical called curcumin contains a variety of ingredients that are believed to offer antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antiseptic, antiviral, antiseptic, and anti-carcinogenic properties.

Inflammation has been linked with the development of certain medical conditions, which include Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis. This condition has been linked with excess inflammation in the thyroid gland.

Hashimoto’s has been linked with heavy metal toxicity. It is believed that the ancient spice turmeric may have the ability to reduce levels of inflammation inside the body. It is also thought to promote gut health and may help to detoxify the body from heavy metals.

A 2014 study featured in the journal called Food Chemistry and Toxicology has shown that curcumin has the potential to protect the intestinal barrier from bacterial infection.

The study was called “Curcumin reduces the hepatotoxicity induced by arsenic, cadmium, chromium, copper, lead and mercury, prevents histological injury, lipid peroxidation and glutathione (GSH) depletion, maintains the liver antioxidant enzyme status and protects against mitochondrial dysfunction.”

Survey results showed that 680 out of 2232 individuals with Hashimoto’s used curcumin. It also revealed that 56% reported curcumin to be helpful with their condition. It was further found that 64% claimed curcumin helped reduce pain symptoms.

In the same survey, it was also revealed that 35% experienced some improvements in energy and improvements in mood by 34%. There were also 34% of the Hashimoto thyroiditis sufferers who experienced improvements in their thyroid antibodies.

The results of the survey show that curcumin may have the potential to offer a variety of health benefits. It is not surprising that many consumers are turning to the use of curcumin supplements.

Curcumin can be consumed through supplementation. The curcumin supplements many people opt for nowadays are those that contain a black pepper extract called piperine. This natural ingredient is believed to help increase curcumin absorption inside the body.
