(Newswire.net — April 25, 2017) — Although Star Wars has set new standards in special effects and CGI (Computer Generated Images), it is the plot that has held us spellbound all these years.
Since Disney acquired ownership of the Star Wars franchise, the saga pursued the story of the unceasing battle between the light and the dark sides of the Force. The episodes, however, have no linear narrative.
Thanks to Mr. Lucas, the saga started with Episode IV, V and VI, followed by Episodes I, II and III. Then Disney continued with Episode VII – The Force Awakens. After selling the rights to the Star Wars, George Lucas created a new episode that chronologically goes between Episode III and the Epizode IV.
The problem arises from the fact that more recent movies have better visualization, which is why it could be odd watching the story from the beginning due to the difference in the production quality.
So, what would be the best order to watch the Star Wars series? This question has caused quite a stir among social media users, who have rushed to provide an answer. Here are some helpful suggestions contributed by Star War fans.
First, you have to choose between the Episode order or the release date order.
If you are introducing the Star Wars saga to a person who has never watched a single movie and is not familiar with the plot (yes, we can find such people among us), then the chronological story order should be your choice. However, some fans rather opt for the release date order for the production quality and the respect for history.
There are also some alternative views based on personal impressions of the quality of the story and the production in general. Episode I – The Phantom Menace and Episode II – Attack of the Clones, some hard core fans believe, don’t even deserve to be on the watch list, while Episode III – Revenge of the Sith is worth considering.
“The problem with the Episode order is that it ruins the surprise that Vader is Luke’s father. If you think that this reveal doesn’t matter since it’s common knowledge, I suggest you watch the looks on these kids’ faces,” one fan suggests.
It is widely believed that prequel movies can merely serve as an introduction to the main story and should be considered only after watching the first trilogy.
Others argue that the release order of the saga is not a good option, because “after the Empire is destroyed and everyone is celebrating, Luke looks over at his mentors, Ben Kenobi and Yoda, and suddenly they are joined by… some random creepy looking teenager who needs a haircut (Hayden Christensen).”
The Star Wars fan community is divided over which order the saga needs to be watched and whether Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back is the best of all, but if you love the story, it’s irrelevant which order you choose, as you would want to see them all.
