Scientists Now Believe That UV Teeth Whitening Can Be Dangerous

(Newswire.net — April 11, 2018) Orlando, FL — Researchers have been eyeing off the effects of teeth whitening products and methods, which include UV light.

In a recent study, it was found that ultraviolet light causes not just sunburn, but also skin cancer. Such a light is significantly damaging to the eyes, lips and gums, particularly during a light-assisted bleaching.

According to some dental experts, such a procedure can be dangerous, even if performed by a well-trained dentist.

In numerous studies conducted in the past five years, the researchers have been questioning any form of light-activated teeth whitening practices. This procedure is often combined with hydrogen peroxide with lasers of varying wavelengths.

In a procedure, light acts as a catalyst that speeds up the breakdown of peroxide in creating free radicals. This is supposedly meant to significantly accelerate the whitening process.

However, the Journal of Prosthodontics published a stud y which found that light-activated, as well as non-light activated procedures, did not produce a significant difference.

In a separate study published in Phytochemical &Photobiological Sciences, the researchers revealed that the procedure involving light-activation wasn’t able to improve bleaching.

The Food and Drug Administration has been receiving complaints about burned gums produced by UV-assisted whitening procedures.

Having pearly white teeth offers many health benefits, and this is especially true to those who want to feel good. However, it appears that the disadvantages caused by a UV procedure outweigh the benefits.

According to a paper in Dental Materials, the conduct of heat-and-light-activated bleaching procedures should be weighed critically. This is considering the physiological, physical and patho-physiological implications of a number of oral health concerns.

The article in the British Dental Journal, on the other hand, discourages the use of tooth-bleaching procedures with the use of concentrated hydrogen peroxide due to its potential carcinogenicity.

The use of activated charcoal is a lot better in whitening teeth. This natural remedy doesn’t expose the gums, teeth, lips, or the entire mouth to potentially harmful substances.

Activated charcoal is one of the natural remedies believed to be helpful for body cleansing. It effectively binds with toxins and eliminates them from the body. In terms of its usefulness in whitening teeth, consumers are advised to use it as a toothpaste.

Activated charcoal has been found to work by adsorbing plaque as well as microscopic titbit stains in the teeth. This natural remedy may be a useful and cost-effective way to produce pearly white teeth.

Divine Bounty Activated Charcoal is reported to be extremely helpful in delivering the teeth whitening benefits of this natural remedy. This formula is highly potent and is made carefully in an FDA-inspected facility in the United States.
