Researchers had both groups of participants consume over two servings of yogurt a week. The subjects experienced lowered risks of major coronary heart disease or stroke by approximately 19 percent during the follow-up period.

They concluded that higher consumption of yogurt, combined with a general heart-healthy diet, was linked with greater decreases in cardiovascular risk in hypertensive men and women.
