Protection Against Autoimmune Diseases

(Newswire.net — September 20, 2018) Orlando, FL — Researchers have been investigating how testosterone affects a male body. In a recent research, it appears to be the reason why males are less prone to disorders than women.

According to experts, testosterone is the source of muscles and machismo, prostates and testes, and chest hair. The levels of testosterone are considered to be one of the biological differences between the two genders.

This, as scientists suggest, may explain why there are discrepancies in the prevalence of autoimmune diseases.

Previous studies have discovered that women are more susceptible to suffering from autoimmune conditions by three to nine times. These conditions include Grave’s disease, celiac disease, multiple sclerosis (MS), systemic lupus erythematous, and rheumatoid arthritis.

It has further found that such diseases are acquired by women at higher rates and at younger ages. When the testosterone levels in males are higher, it has been found to produce protective effects for multiple sclerosis in both mice and men.

It is worth mentioning higher testosterone pertains to levels that are about seven to eight times higher than women’s.

In a recent study involving a mouse model of MS, the scientists found effectors that mediate the protective benefits of testosterone. This work concentrated on a mast cell, which is a type of immune cell.

According to experts, in times of allergic reactions mast cells release histamine. However, they are generally involved in inflammation.

In a case of mice that recapitulate MS, it was found testosterone influenced the behavior of the mast cells in the central nervous system, lymph nodes, and the brain lining.

In female mice, it was found the mast cells produce cytokines, which are pro-inflammatory signaling molecules. When these mast cells are exposed to testosterone, scientists found they produced a cytokine that offers the opposite effect.

This effect is particularly one that tones down inflammation. This suggests that in females, the inflammatory signaling is the key of the promotion of inflammation that occurs in females.

Males have long been advised to take the measures necessary just to improve their testosterone levels. It can have significant benefits for optimum health. There are many diseases nowadays linked with some testosterone level issues that can be prevented.

Experts recommend men should follow healthy diet and lifestyle to manage their health. It may also be beneficial to take into account the use of Divine Bounty Men’s Multivitamins
