(Newswire.net — November 26, 2018) Vancouver, BC — Last weekend, the 22nd annual Eastside Culture Crawl drew thousands of artists, designers, collectors, tourists, families, and fans of every kind out into the streets and studios of the Strathcona neighbourhood — but this year, their options for a mid-Crawl coffee fix were more numerous than ever before, thanks to Espressotec Sales & Service.

The espresso machine and coffee retailer, located at 1015 Clark Drive (near the Parker Street Studios), opens their doors each year to Culture Crawl-ers and serves specialty coffee by donation to the Culture Crawl Society. Former years saw their baristas serving hot drinks from under a tent in the parking lot under all manner of weather conditions — but this year, the company set up the coffee bar inside their showroom, in conjunction with their newly-opened coffee-tasting bar, Roaster Central. Thus the crowds passing through had their choice of over 40 types of specialty coffee to sample, plus a new type of nitrogenated iced coffee, along with several espresso-based drinks.

“We’re so thrilled to be Vancouver’s FIRST coffee-tasting centre, and the Culture Crawl’s the perfect way to share it with the community,” says Reg James, owner of Espressotec and the innovator behind Roaster Central. “The Crawl is about celebrating and sampling talented local brands, which is exactly why we opened our tasting bar. Where else can you taste and compare so many different coffees from roasters across North America, for only the cost of a donation to a worthy cause?”

And indeed, there were hundreds of coffee-tasting flights brewed for event-goers over the weekend, made from beans from companies like Agro Roasters, whose shop is located right at the heart of the Culture Crawl map. Visitors were happy to learn that the tasting bar is a fixture at Espressotec that’s open for folks to enjoy anytime during regular business hours. Many were also impressed by the nitro iced coffee, which pours like a thick, creamy stout from a sleek double-tapped countertop dispenser.

“This is a delicious alternative to cold brew (which is always super-popular) that café- and restaurant-operators love because it only takes about 15 minutes to brew a four-litre batch, as opposed to the 12-24 hours required for cold brew,” explains Rob Paton, Espressotec’s general manager. “The Kool Source modular nitrogenator / carbonator system we’re using has a second tap too, which can serve carbonated (sparkling) water, kombucha, or whatever’s going. So far, the response from the Crawl has been nothing but positive!”

Thanks to these many offerings and the enthusiasm of event attendees, Espressotec managed to raise almost $500 for the Culture Crawl Society over the two days of their coffee service. “It’s a privilege to support our community,” says James, “one we look forward to enjoying each year.”
