(Newswire.net — August 8, 2019) Orlando, FL — Today, it doesn’t come as a surprise that many people die due to suicide. According to some experts, depression is widespread not just in the U.S. but around the world.

The National Institute of Mental Health warns that in the United States, major depression affects almost 7 percent of adults.

The good news is that today, more and more researchers are studying on the potentially effective ways to combat depression.

A study involving mice was carried out and published in the molecular Psychiatry journal.

In this research, it has been found that activating a certain gene that aids in exiting neurons led to the reversal of depression. This means that it could significantly aid in fighting symptoms like loss of interest and social isolation.

The researchers looked into the prefrontal cortex, which is an area in the brain involved in complex behaviors like planning, personality and social behavior. Such brain area is also known to play a significant role in the pathogenesis of major depression.

More particularly, the investigators found that inactivating the SIRT1 gene in excitatory neurons produced symptoms of depression in male mice.

According to Dr. Xin-Yun Lu, molecular behavioral neuroscientist, when stress, not direct gene manipulation, caused depression, a drug that activated SIRT1 reversed the symptoms in the males.

“It has an antidepressant-like effect,” Lu adds.

Lu is the study’s corresponding author, a professor in the Department of Neuroscience and Regenerative Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University and Georgia Research Alliance Eminent Scholar in Translational Neuroscience.

One of the most therapeutic mushrooms today is lion’s mane, which is a widely-studied kitchen ingredient. It exerts various mechanisms to benefit the brain and fight depression, and this is due to its neurotrophic properties.

It is worth mentioning that neurotrophic factors are essential for the development, growth, and survival of neurons. Lion’s mane has been found to support brain plasticity, and produce neuroprotective effects.

Experts say that brain protective action means that the brain cells are protected from cell death as well as impairment.

More and more studies are still investigating the therapeutic benefits of lion’s mane. However, it is hard to deny that its use is widespread.

Supplements like Divine Bounty Lion’s Mane could be helpful in delivering the therapeutic goodness of this medicinal mushroom. This formula is known for its high potency and is widely resorted to by many health-conscious consumers.

Divine Bounty Lion’s Mane is popularized by its high potency and is even protected with a money back guarantee (amazon.com/Organic-Lions-Mane-Mushroom-Capsules/dp/B07LGR1KN7).
