Predicting American Football Results – 5 useful Hints

(Newswire.net — October 28, 2019) — While the NFL season only lasts a few months, it is surely one of the most fun-to-watch things in the world of sports. Fantasy sport players, bettors and football fans in general are always after that piece of information that can help them to predict the game.

So, what is helpful to know in order to predict football scores?

Even if I do not know the exact answer to the above question, I have a few good suggestions that might help you out. Let’s have a look at them:

THE GAME PLAN

The game plan. When two teams play, there are players that play against each other on the field, but not only. There is history between the two teams, tactical analysis, game schemes and more.

If you want to know the way a game will develop, you can’t simply say: “Oh this team is such a big favorite, they will win for sure”. You need to check each team’s offense against the rival’s defense and vice versa. Passing and rushing yards against opponent’s defense and so on.

Coaches are also a big factor in football, it is not just a case that a team can have up to 15 coaches (main coaches plus assistant coaches).

THE FORM STATUS

This is one of the most important stats to be checked. Perhaps the number one.

I normally consider the last 5 games as a pretty solid indicator as older games don’t really count as much. And this actually applies to all sports, not just American football.

The importance of form status is always underestimated, but it is way more important than things like standings, tables, lineups and the rest. I can’t recall the number of times I placed a bet on a stronger team and lost because their form was clearly poorer than their opponent’s.

It might sound silly, but it also happens a lot.

CHECK BOOKMAKERS AND ODDS MOVEMENT

In case you do not know, bookmakers are those websites that come up with odds so that people can bet on sport events.

They are well known to use the most up-to-date information and the latest software to stay ahead of competition and adjust the odds that they offer in order to minimize risk and losses.

We can take advantage of this as we can constantly monitor odds movement and understand if some fresh information is now available for that particular match or if anything suspicious is happening.

This fine art might take a while to master but following odds movement (and especially odds that are dropping) is a powerful strategy that many professional bettors use.

You can even use websites that do all the work for you and provide all of this information to their users. One of my favorites, betzcenter.com has an American football section that include odds movement analysis.

READ FOOTBALL BETTING GUIDES

This one is for the bettors out there.
Before placing your bet, you must know pretty much everything about the game you are betting on. Player form, game plan, standings, lineups, latest results and more…

It is difficult to list all of the things that you need to check before getting a clear idea of what to expect from a given game. And sometimes that’s not even enough to place the right bet, but it is indeed a great start.

For example, the website that I mentioned before (BetzCenter) has a very descriptive blog post that is actually an American football betting guide, definitely worth a read.

This guide includes the most important aspects of football betting, but there is always more that you can check and google might be your best friend in case you want to deep dive even more.

USE THE TOOLS

As we discussed, today’s information on the internet is widely available and accessible to everyone.

For each game, you can easily check injury reports, weather and statistics. You can access highlights and match recaps fairly easily.
You can also check teams’ social media accounts and sport Facebook pages to get that little piece of content that will make your prediction successful.

This is just a short list of a few simple but useful things that you can do to improve your match analytical skills for football games, some of them also apply to other sports, but being a big football fans, I wanted to keep the focus of this article on this sport!

I hope you found this post helpful, and if so, can you already guess who will win the next Super Bowl?
