(Newswire.net — March 13, 2020) Orlando, FL — Over decades, the scientific community has been carrying out studies to learn more about osteoporosis and how it can be prevented.

According to experts, it is wise to make some lifestyle improvements to preserve bone health and reduce the risk of bone loss as one ages.

There are many steps such as staying away from tobacco and alcohol use, having a healthy weight, and engaging in regular exercise.

Studies have found that exercise aids in fighting osteoporosis in many ways. It aids in strengthening the muscles, stimulating bone remodeling, and even promoting balance, coordination, flexibility, and good posture. It is wise to make sure the movements are safe and not increase the risk of falling. Researchers say getting 30 minutes of exercise every day can offer support to bone health.

Nutrients like magnesium, calcium, and vitamin D are also important. It is recommended to consume adequate amounts of calcium, protein, and vitamin D. foods like beans, fish, lean meats, and vegetables are highly recommended.

Andrea J. Singer, MD, FACP, says that they do not looking for people to overshoot.

Singer is the director of women’s primary care and bone densitometry in the department of obstetrics and gynecology at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC

“But we do want them to meet their daily requirements of protein, calcium, and vitamin D,” she adds.

Some studies have highlighted the significance of using magnesium for bone strength and protection. The American College of Nutrition published a review. In this review, the positive correlation between bone mineral density and magnesium has been found.

It is important to stress that magnesium deficiency has long been linked with reduced bone volume and strength, as well as poor bone development.

Experts further warn it also triggers the excess release of calcium from the bone into the blood, and this happens without accompanying bone formation.

The Jean Mayer US Department of Agriculture Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging at Tufts University researchers carried out a study.

In this study, the scientists looked into the bone mineral density (BMD) of members of the original Framingham Heart Study cohort, which was a longitudinal study dating back in 1948.

The findings of the study suggest that long-term magnesium-rich diets offered protection against BMD loss. While more research studies are still underway to explore more of the mineral’s healing benefits, its use has long been highly recommended.
