(Newswire.net — March 25, 2020) Winnetka, IL — Health authorities continue to warn against sleep deprivation, which has been associated with a myriad of undesirable health consequences. In individuals with diabetes, it appears to worsen the condition.
A study has shown that individuals with diabetes who sleep poorly tend to have higher blood glucose levels. It is further worth mentioning that they may also have more difficulties controlling their condition.
The investigators had 40 subjects with type 2 diabetes and they were compared to 5311 individuals without the disease. They were trying to see the possible links between blood glucose levels, sleep quality, and some other measures of diabetes management.
According to Kristen Knutson, who spearheaded the study, they found that in those with diabetes, there was an association between poor sleep quality and worse glucose measures.
The findings of this research were published in Diabetes Care.
“We did not see a relationship in people without diabetes,” she said.
It is worth noting that in previous research, scientists found a link between poor sleep and diabetes.
The study findings reveal that diabetes sufferers with sleeping difficulties had higher fasting blood glucose levels by 23 percent.
Further, they also had increased fasting insulin levels by 48 percent, and an 82 percent increase in insulin resistance compared to normal sleepers with diabetes.
It is worth realizing that various factors are speculated to strongly contribute to sleeplessness or sleep deprivation. These are issues like anxiety, stress, and even depression. The good news is that some natural remedies have been found to work wonders in fighting these contributors.
According to researchers, an Ayurvedic herb called ashwagandha may aid in fighting anxiety, fatigue, stress, and even depression. There are actually many diseases this herb is thought to inhibit the development of.
Studies have shown ashwaganahda has whianolides, which is a group of pharmacological chemicals.
It has been found this natural remedy aids in producing antidepressant, tranquilizing, and relaxant effects. As an adaptogen, it has been found to enhance mood and all of these actions work wonders in promoting better sleep.
A study was published in “PLoS One” in 2009.
In this research, it has been found treatment of 300 mg of ashwagandha twice a day for three months led to a reduction of anxiety levels by 50 percent.
Today, there are many people who resort to the use of this natural healing ingredient for various medicinal purposes. It is even widely consumed via supplementation, such as the use of NutraHerbals Ashwagandha (www.amazon.com/organic-ashwagandha-root-powder/dp/B01GZALWGO).
