(Newswire.net — March 18, 2020) — Americans are beginning to panic about the coronavirus outbreak lining up around a block of hunting stores for weapons and ammunition, the Daily Mail writes.

The states of California, New York, and Washington were hit the hardest by the virus outbreak and saw a huge increase in arms sales.

While some buyers are looking for weapons to protect their families from looters if food and supplies run out, others are arming themselves because they fear that a state of emergency in the US may limit their right to buy weapons. Americans of Asian descent, on the other hand, are buying guns to protect themselves from potential racist attacks.

It is the panic surrounding the coronavirus that is causing thousands of Americans to rush to supermarkets to stock up on basic necessities.

Covid-19 killed 69 people in the US and only 377 contracted the virus, but Americans are afraid this is just the innuendo for something much worse.

US President Donald Trump said the crisis over the coronavirus could last until July, August and even longer. He also said the virus is out of control in the US.

Trump said the same was the case for the rest of the world and called the virus “an invisible enemy.”

The US president urged Americans to halt most of their social activities for 15 days and not to gather in groups of more than ten people to prevent the spread of the virus.

At a time when the stock market’s stock prices are falling, the US president warned of the possibility of a global recession and severe consequences in the United States. He stressed, however, that he is focused on the health crisis and that the economy will recover once the crisis is under control.

Trump was criticized for mitigating the severity of the outbreak when earlier answering questions from reporters. He also said that no national restriction on movement controlled by police is being considered at this time. Trump believes it’s still possible for G7 leaders to meet at Kamp David in Maryland in June.

The American leader has aroused dissatisfaction with his European counterparts, who are by large part members of G7, and are imposing restrictions on travel from European countries without first consulting with them.

The US presidential task force urged young people to follow the new guidelines, although they are at a lower risk of being infected and exhibiting symptoms.
