Solving Climate Change

(Newswire.net — April 16, 2020) — Today, climate change seems to be a growing concern around the world. The issue has accelerated faster than we imagined possible and still leaves us baffled on a regular basis. It is hard to realize sometimes that we are far from powerless when facing the climate crises. Organizations, communities, cities, businesses, schools and faith groups are taking action and fighting against the climate change.

We’ll be having a talk with Anthony W. Robertson, the founder of the Save the World Foundation, which aims to be the world’s largest emission reduction platform.

Tell us a little about your story:

I started the Save the Word Foundation (SWF) because I thought we needed an organization dedicated solely to prevent the climate crisis from taking place. We have groups all over the world doing a small part, but no one has taken up the challenge of cleaning up the whole mess, until now.  When I was 16 years old, I started fighting climate change by running a climate change campaign for city council. I went on to do a degree in ecology and continue to further my education in the environmental field today.

How does SWF help solve climate changes?

We are currently working on building the most aggressive emission reduction plan in Canada. The goal is to reduce emissions in Canada to near net zero within a 15-year time span. The first step is to complete the research to form this plan. From there we can pull together our connections and resources and buckle down. We need to collaborate with organizations from every economic sector, both government and non-government. Luckily this opens a multi-billion-dollar opportunity for many industries who will be happy to help wherever possible. Once the plan is in motion for Canada, we plan to expand to the United States and beyond. If we can achieve a similar plan for the United States, we will have pushed the point of no return (2C) back so far that the rest will be smooth sailing in comparison. At the end of the day, we want to get emissions down to a level that is safe for humanity, for many generations to come.

What are the goals of the foundation?

We have many goals as an organization. I always make goals based on the short, mid and long term and so does the foundation. Currently our goal is to get the action plan completed and make further connections to needed partners so we can hit the ground running. In addition, we are working on our outreach. We need to get our name and plan out there so the public will join the fight.

How can people help?

People often don’t realize how much power they really have. The consumer is a vital part of changing the world, for the better or worse. There are four main things you can do to reduce your carbon footprint. The first is quite obvious, try not to drive or fly. If you can help it, cycle, walk, take transit or even carpool. The second is my least favorite, try not to eat red meat or dairy. Particularly, beef or sheep is something to avoid. Although I must say, I love myself a hamburger, I have cut down on beef and lamb tremendously for its environmental impacts. The next thing to avoid is consumption. Fast fashion, take out containers and everything else you may consume, try to cut down on it. The less you buy or throw way the better. Lastly, make sure to vote. Voting makes a tremendous difference when it comes to environmental impact, so don’t let the opportunity go by you. Volunteering and supporting causes like ours are also vital roles we need more people playing. You can learn more about how to reduce your impact by reading one of my favorite books “Operation Sustainable Human”.

Closing Statements:

Overall, I hope this article puts people’s minds at ease knowing we are on the case. I hope it encourages people to do a little bit more for the environment and spread the word, because change is coming!
