(Newswire.net — June 9, 2020) — The recent resumption of horse racing in the United Kingdom, Ireland and France has undoubtedly lifted the mood around the sport.
While there is still some way to go before things are fully back to normal, fans have been able to enjoy some top-class action over the past couple of weeks.
There is also plenty to look forward to, with many major meetings scheduled to take place during the summer months.
We’ve taken a closer look at some of the upcoming events and picked out three horses that we believe are primed for success at the highest level.
O’Brien juvenile set to star in the Queen Mary
Top Irish trainer Aidan O’Brien will travel to the 2020 Royal Ascot meeting during June armed with a plethora of chances in the big races.
He has an outstanding prospect for the Queen Mary Stakes on Saturday, June 20, with More Beautiful installed as 3/1 favourite following an impressive debut at Naas.
Many racing punters’ opinions after the race suggested that O’Brien’s charge could be yet another superstar to be produced by the Ballydoyle bandwagon.
More Beautiful was fully in control of the race from the two-furlong marker and is strongly fancied to follow up at Royal Ascot.
Tiz tipped to lay down the law at Belmont
Tiz the Law stepped up his preparations for the $1 million Belmont Stakes on June 20 with an impressive workout under jockey Manny Franco.
The horse won two out of three as a juvenile including an impressive four-length victory in the Grade 1 Champagne Stakes at Belmont back in October.
He kicked-off his three-year-old campaign with a Grade 3 win at Gulfstream Park, before romping to another Grade 1 success in the Florida Derby at the same track.
That win fired Tiz the Law to the head of the betting for the Belmont Stakes and he looks to hold an outstanding chance of winning one of the best sports events in the world.
Gosden eyeing third Derby victory
Trainer John Gosden has his horses in fine form at the moment and he could be the man to follow in the Epsom Derby on July 4.
His Darian, a full-brother to the supremely talented Too Darn Hart, hasn’t made his racecourse debut yet, but can be backed at around 40/1 for the big race.
Champion jockey Oisin Murphy spoke highly of the three-year-old in a recent interview and Darian could be well worth considering in what looks to be an open renewal of the Derby.
At shorter odds Ed Walker’s English King may also be a lively contender after hacking up in the Lingfield Derby Trial, while Godolphin’s Military March also looks an interesting proposition.
