(Newswire.net — July 29, 2020) Orlando, FL — Statistics show that around 11 percent of adults in the U.S. or 24 million people have diabetes. It is worth realizing that although this condition is incurable, it is nonetheless preventable.

According to a new study, making some dietary and lifestyle changes may cut the risk of the condition by over a third in the most susceptible individuals.

There are 57 million overweight individuals who have an increased likelihood of type 2 diabetes. They are also more prone to the risk of stroke or heart attack.

This research was published online at The Lancet journal.

It is worth realizing that overweight people tend to have blood sugar levels that are higher than normal. Researchers say that weight loss and regularly engaging in physical activities could delay or even prevent the onset of diabetes.

According to study author Dr. William C. Knowler, interventions that result in weight loss lower the risk of diabetes, and that lower risk appears to persist for a long period of time.

Dr. Knowler is from the U.S. National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases.

In this research, the investigators had 3,234 overweight or obese adults with increased blood sugar levels. It has been found lifestyle improvements such as decreasing caloric and fat intake as well as exercising for at least 150 minutes a week helped reduce diabetes risk by 34 percent.

It is worth remembering that some natural remedies have been studied widely as they exhibit powerful diabetes-fighting benefits.

One of these natural remedies is curcumin, which is loaded with a range of healing agents.

A review was published in the International Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism.

In this research, the investigators suggest curcumin could be a drug alternative in the treatment and potential prevention of diabetes.

Scientists suggest curcumin may offer an ideal intervention for type 2 diabetes. It has the ability to mitigate characteristic pathophysiological hallmarks of the condition. Hallmarks particularly include insulin resistance and elevated blood sugar.

There are varying mechanisms curcumin has been found exert to aid in fighting diabetes. It could decrease liver glucose production as well as the production of glycogen. What makes it all the more beneficial is that it can increase the activation of AMP kinase.

Researchers also say it stimulates the increase of glucose uptake and insulin secretion from pancreatic tissues.

In addition to its diabetes-fighting effects, it is worth realizing curcumin has also been found to produce a range of interesting health benefits. Today, it is widely consumed via supplementation such as the use of Divine Bounty Curcumin (http://amazon.com/Turmeric-Curcumin-BioPerine-Pepper-Extract/dp/B00VSVKJ8I).
