“Mirror mirror on the wall, present me the clearest face of all…!”
Although the evil queen of Snow White and the seven dwarfs’ fame was able to conveniently resort to this mantra for the purpose of resolving her beauty dilemmas, it just isn’t the same for the rest of us mere mortals, now is it?
Henceforth and without any further ado, here’s a detailed regimen over which you could realistically commit to; read on to know more!
1) First and foremost, pull yourself together!
If ever you notice any form of inflammation and/or tenderness around your facial skin, then you know that you’re due for a break-out, but of course. This in turn could make you feel insecure and probably even more compulsive, especially if this unwanted case scenario occurs shortly before a special occasion.
Ladies, stop right there! Getting excessively paranoid isn’t going to take you anywhere, period. As a matter of fact, it could aggravate the already drastic situation or even tempt you to continuously touch this blemish (worse yet – prick it open and leave a permanent scar!).
Hey, I’m a woman too and I can understand how psychologically troubling this particular aspect may be, but let us console ourselves by assuring that an occasional zit is a common predicament amongst most of us, regardless of a healthy lifestyle.
2) Secondly – treat it well!
Now that a pustule has already sprouted up, all that can now be done is a stringent routine to help heal it. Here’s how to:
(i) Cleanse with a mild soap bar or facial foam; formulas that are sans fragrance/colour additives are an excellent option.
(ii) Tone with the best skin care products that contains methyl salicylate. For a simpler alternative, you could gently use some rubbing alcohol over the affected area with a dab of cotton wool. Make sure to avoid the eye and lip area, though.
(iii) Slather on a final product that is exclusively known for battling the bacteria and drying out the oil which usually leads to pimples; an over-the-counter skin gel containing at least 2.5% benzoyl peroxide is ideal. However, a dab or two of tea tree oil can do wonders too, without any irritation and dryness to skin.
3) Thirdly – conceal it well!
What with the above agenda obviously requiring a couple of days to show results, it makes sense to always have a back-up plan at bay (if you’re heading out and about, that is!).
Taking the colour wheel into consideration, did you know that two shades that are exactly opposite each other have the capability to neutralize each other out?
When concealing inflammation, this is the fundamental principle that world-renowned makeup artists adhere to. Therefore, if inflammation is red, what is the colour that opposes this specific colour?
You guessed just right – green, but of course!
Using a cream eye shadow base which has a matte green hue to it is a great means of cancelling the redness of existing pimples out while you’re doing your makeup. This can be patted on as required after your first layer of foundation. Follow up with some loose mineral powder for an optimum finish.
