2020 has been a year where we got a little too much of being at home and doing the same old things over and over. By now you are probably tired of the TV, the Internet, the clothes you wear and the things you eat. But you can make changes if you want to. Maybe not the content on your television, but the things you do. Maybe it is time to start a diet or begin an exercise routine. If you are tired of opening the fridge and finding the same old sodas, or perhaps you want to cut back on the beer or wine. Here is a list of alternative beverages that you can make at home or get from a local shop.

  • Juicing: Juicing is at the forefront of healthy drinking. It became a bit of a fad a couple of decades ago, but it hung around. Now in every mall you will see some form of juice shop. Juicing is the very best way to pack huge amounts of beneficial vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants into your body. It can be as easy as buying a juice machine and trying out a bunch of combinations, until you find one that hits the spot. If you don’t want to get that serious about your drinks, but you want to change things up. You can try something like Slades Beverages Aqua Fruits Quench, to bring some new flavours to your fridge.

  • Tea: Tea is nothing new, at least not hot tea with a bit of milk and biscuits in the afternoon. But there are more things you can do with tea. And when it gets hotter outside, there is nothing more refreshing than a glass of homemade iced tea. You can also try sun tea, cold brew tea, or tea made from plants other than Camelia Sinensis (the tea bush). Tea has many health benefits, including antioxidants, and some of the green teas are loaded with goodness. Something that has been gaining popularity is matcha which is green tea grown in the shade and then the first flush of new leaves is ground into a powder. There is a whole technique about preparing it, in fact, there are tea ceremonies for matcha. If you are looking for something new, surprise your friends by having a matcha ceremony.

  • Coffee: Coffee seems to have unlimited marketing potential, people seem quite pleased to drop 5 bucks for a cup at Starbucks, but when people drink it at home, it is usually just coffee with sugar and milk. If you love the Starbucks flavours, why not make some at home for considerable savings. Did you know you can make up a pitcher of cappuccino, flavoured however you like, and it will be fine in the fridge for days. Then you can just go to the kitchen, pour yourself a glass and save five bucks. How cool it that?

These days it is up to us to keep a little variety going while we get through some of the crazy situations. Always remember to drink water too, so that you can stay hydrated. And remember to take your vitamins, especially C and D.
