(Newswire.net — June 4, 2021) Orlando, FL — The American Heart Association’s Heart Disease and Stroke Statistics – 2021 Update reveals that heart disease continues to be the top cause of death around the globe.

This is according to its report published in the Circulation journal. In these times of Covid-19 pandemic, experts say that the rates of cardiovascular disease may increase.

According to Salim S. Virani, M.D. Ph.D., FAHA, the extraordinary circumstances of dealing with COVID-19 have changed the way we live, including adopting unhealthy behaviors that are known to increase the risk of heart disease and stroke.

“Unhealthy eating habits, increased consumption of alcohol, lack of physical activity and the mental toll of quarantine isolation and even fear of contracting the virus all can adversely impact a person’s risk for cardiovascular health,” Virani added.

Millions of Americans of all ages suffer from high blood pressure, and these include the millions in their 40s and 50s.

Around half of those with high blood pressure are unable to have their condition under control. It is important to keep in mind that high blood pressure is a major risk factor for heart disease.

Having unregulated cholesterol levels may also increase the odds of heart disease. Some risk factors of uncontrolled cholesterol are smoking, obesity, diabetes, and an unhealthy diet.

Experts have long been stressing that good nutrition is linked with disease protection and overall cardiovascular health. There are many nutrients highly recommended to stay healthy and these include B vitamins.

It is important to note that adequate intake of B vitamins is vital for preventive care. There are many functions these nutrients play, such as promote a healthy metabolism and lessen the odds of medical conditions like stroke.

There are studies revealing that adequate intake of B vitamins could be beneficial for heart health. Scientists carried out a research and looked into data from 23,119 men and 35,611 women between ages 40 and 79.

The subjects completed questionnaires about dietary habits as part of the Japan Collaborative Cohort Study.

At a median of 14 years follow up, the findings have shown that 986 people had died from stroke, 424 from heart disease, and 2,087 from all diseases associated with the cardiovascular system. In this study, the subjects were divided into five groups based on their intake of folate, vitamin B6, and vitamin B12.

The investigators made a comparison in the diets lowest and highest for each nutrient. They found a link in between increased intake of folate and B6 and a significantly fewer deaths from heart failure in men.

There are formulas like Divine Bounty B Vitamin Complex that may be a useful source of these nutrients.

It contains Choline, Pantothenic acid, Biotin, Vitamin B12, Folic Acid, Niacin, Riboflavin, Thiamin, and vitamin B6.
