(Newswire.net — September 27, 2021) Orlando, FL — Over the years, researchers have been carrying out studies to look into the various aspects of stress. Time and again chronic stress has been linked with the increased odds of certain diseases.
Researchers at the University of Zurich a study.
In this research, it has been found that increased sensitivity in a specific brain region contributes to the onset of anxiety and depression in response to real-life stress. The findings of this research establish a certain objective neurobiological measure for the resilience of stress in humans.
Stress resilience is actually a widely discussed concept, and the response of people to increased stress levels can actually vary.
The study was particularly carried out by a team of researchers involving Marcus Grueschow and Christian Ruff from the UZH Zurich Center for Neuroeconomics and Birgit Kleim from the Department of Psychology and the University Hospital of Psychiatry Zurich.
Lab experiments could only replicate chronic stress as stress being simulated in the lab is all time-limited in exposure time and intensity.
The researchers observe a group of medical students who are about to face real-life stress for an extended period, and this is during their six-month internship in the emergency room.
The subjects were given a task requiring them to process conflicting information before the start of the internship. It is worth keeping in mind that the conflict task actually activates the locus coeruleus-norepinephrine (LC-NE) system, which is a region of the brain linked with regulating our response to stress and resolving conflict.
However, it is worth mentioning that the intensity of LC-NE activated or the firing rate varies from one person to another. Those with higher LC-NE responsivity exhibited more symptoms of anxiety and depression after their emergency room internships.
“The more responsive the LC-NE system, the more likely a person will develop symptoms of anxiety and depression when they’re exposed to prolonged stress,” Marcus Grueschow summarizes their findings.
Today, an increasing number of researchers are looking into the measures helpful in fighting stress. There are actually all-natural remedies like intake of B vitamins found to be particularly beneficial.
Divine Bounty B Vitamins may be helpful in delivering the stress-busting effects of B vitamins. It is worth keeping in mind that studies have shown intake of nutrients did not just enhance stress levels, but also combat depression and anxiety.
