(Newswire.net — October 11, 2021) Orlando, FL — Over the years, researchers have been conducting studies to look into the various aspects of depression. It is worth noting that food or food preference has been found to be associated with this mental health issue.

A study was carried out and published in the Public Health Nutrition journal.

In this research, it has been found that consumption of fast food is associated with the increased odds of depression. This actually confirms the previous studies revealing the same results.

It was spearheaded by scientists from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and the University of Granada.

The researchers more particularly revealed that consumption of commercial baked goods and fast food is associated with depression. Baked goods include croissants, fairy cakes, and doughnuts and fast food means hotdogs, hamburgers, and pizza.

The findings revealed that consumers of fast food are 51 percent more likely to suffer from depression compared to those who eat little or none.

According to Almudena Sánchez-Villegas, lead author of the study, the more fast food you consume, the greater the risk of depression.

It is interesting to note that the participants who consumed most fast food as well as commercial baked goods are more likely to be less active, single, and have poor dietary habits. This means they ate less fruit, nuts, fish, vegetables, and olive oil.

There are other prevalent characteristics of this group, such as smoking and working more than 45 hours per week.

The investigators also pointed out that even consumption of small quantities is associated with a significantly increased chance of developing depression.

Around the globe, depression happens to around 300 million people. Experts are increasingly warning against this mental health issue as it could reduce the overall quality of life and health.

More and more researchers are looking into the various aspects of depression and how its rates may be reduced. It is worth mentioning that making dietary and lifestyle improvements is vital for mental health. There are even nutrients like B vitamins that could be extremely helpful in delivering antidepressive benefits.

Research has time and again shown that intake of B vitamins helps in enhancing general mental health. More particularly, they have been found helpful in enhancing symptoms of depression and anxiety.

There are actually many advantages linked with the use of these nutrients.  Extra-strength supplements like Divine Bounty B Vitamin Complex may be an excellent choice for individuals who want to benefit from the healing goodness of these nutrients.
