(Newswire.net — December 20, 2021) Winnetka, IL — Making healthy dietary practices is undeniably one of the keys to maintaining heart health. There have been many research studies that highlighted the dangerous effects of certain foods on the heart.

A study was carried out and published in the Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications.

In this research, the investigators found that intake of a high-fat diet could activate a response in the heart. This response, according to experts, may cause destructive growth, and result in a greater risk of heart attacks.

This research was carried out by the research team from the University of Reading.

The investigators looked into the impact of feeding mice with a high-fat diet on oxidative stress levels on heart cells. They found that cells had twice the amount of oxidative stress, and this resulted in the enlargement of heart cells by up to 1.8 times.

Such an enlargement is found to be due to cardiac hypertrophy, which is linked with heart disease.

According to the first author Dr. Sunbal Naureen Bhatti, from the University of Reading, it shows one way in which a high-fat diet can cause damage to the muscle cells that make up our hearts.

It appears that when mice were subjected to a high-fat diet, a switch occurs at a cellular level. This triggers the Nox2, which is a normally harmless protein, to become overactive.

“We are really just scratching the surface of how the protein Nox2 responds to diets, but our research clearly demonstrates that high-fat diets have the potential to cause significant damage to the heart,” Dr. Bhatti added.

The investigators actually focused on this key protein Nox2, which is thought to be linked with the increased oxidative stress levels in the heart.

As the rates of heart diseases and medical conditions linked with obesity continue to soar, more and more experts are stressing the relevance of taking some measures to manage a healthy weight and ward off heart disease.

It is worth realizing that some plant-based remedies like ashwagandha may be helpful. Various research studies suggest curcumin may be helpful for weight management. What makes it all the more beneficial is that it could also help combat heart disease.

Nowadays, there are many who resort to the use of supplements like NutraHerbals Ashwagandha.
