(Newswire.net — June 9, 2022) Orlando, FL — Diabetes is undeniably common in many areas around the globe. While it affects people of any age and race, it seems to affect more men than women.

Scottish researchers carried out a study and found that men may be more susceptible to having type 2 diabetes than women. It is important to realize that in this research, men are biologically more at risk, and need to gain far less weight than women to develop the condition.

In this study, the investigators looked into the records of 95,057 men and women suffering from type 2 diabetes. It is worth mentioning that this condition is produced by excessive levels of a type of sugar called glucose in the blood.

The researchers also looked into their ages and body mass index (BMI) scores at the time of diagnosis.

Due to the findings of this study, the investigators speculate that men may have reduced sensitivity to insulin than women. They also tend to have stored fat around their organs instead of under the skin as women do.

According to Dr. Victoria King, Head of Research at Diabetes UK, it is worrying that men develop type 2 diabetes at a higher rate than their female counterparts.

“Research like this will help us understand reasons why and provide greater insight into what we can do to improve prevention of type 2 diabetes,” adds Dr. King.

The findings of this research were published in the Diabetologia medical journal.

While medications are a popular treatment for diabetes, it is also wise to consider the use of some nutrients in battling this ailment.

According to experts, magnesium works wonders in producing benefits for individuals with type 2 diabetes.

Some studies even suggest that around 48 percent of individuals with type 2 diabetes have reduced levels of magnesium in their blood. It is important to realize that this can disrupt the ability of insulin to manage blood sugar levels.

This macromineral called magnesium has actually long been studied by experts due to its powerful healing effects. There are also studies showing that individuals with reduced magnesium intake tend to have higher odds of suffering from diabetes.

A study involving over 4,000 individuals for 20 years has shown that subjects with the highest magnesium intake were at a reduced odds of developing diabetes by 47 percent.

Another research has shown that in individuals with diabetes, intake of high doses of magnesium daily led to significant developments in blood sugar and hemoglobin A1c levels.

It is important to note that aside from its diabetes-fighting benefits, this macromineral has also long been reputed to work wonders in delivering a myriad of healing benefits.
