(Newswire.net — July 11, 2022) Orlando, FL — Around the globe, osteoporosis affects around 200 million people. This progressive disease occurs when bones become more porous and fragile.

Osteoporosis is normally treated through the use of certain medications. Scientists have been investigating the impacts of these pharmaceutical drugs not just on the bone health issue, but on other aspects of health.

The Garvan Institute of Medical Research spearheaded two studies.

It has been found that nitrogen-bisphosphonates, which are drugs commonly prescribed for osteoporosis, decreased the risk of premature mortality by 34 percent.

It is worth noting this study involved a cohort of over 6,000 individuals aged over 50, who took part in the observational Canadian Multicentre Osteoporosis Study.

The researchers revealed that this decrease in early mortality risk was significantly linked with a reduction in bone loss compared with no treatment.

The results indicate that intake of these approved osteoporosis medications could be extremely beneficial for individuals at risk of osteoporosis. After reaching the age of 50, 25 percent of men and 40 percent of women are projected to sustain an osteoporotic fragility fracture in their life.

It is worth noting that such an injury that puts them at risk of further fractures.

According to Professor Jacqueline Center, it is a common misconception that osteoporosis affects only women, and many people choose to not take recommended treatments.

Center heads the Clinical Studies and Epidemiology laboratory at the Garvan Institute and is an Endocrinologist at St Vincent’s Hospital, who led the studies.

“But osteoporotic fractures are not benign. Osteoporosis medication not only decreases the risk of further fractures — but it appears that this same medication also decreases mortality rates over the subsequent 15 years.”

There are many other studies that have investigated the various factors influencing longevity. It is worth noting that scientists have found certain nutrients do not just have the ability to combat diseases, but also prolong lifespan.

These include B vitamins, which have long been studied due to their remarkable healing benefits. Vitamin B12, in particular, is involved in the metabolism of all cells in the body.

This water-soluble vitamin, also called cobalamin, is a cofactor in DNA synthesis. It is required in the formation of red blood cells and DNA. What makes it all the more important is that it plays a role in the function and development of brain cells.

Studies have shown it helps enhance longevity and promote healthy aging. It can be obtained through the use of formulas like Divine Bounty B Vitamin Complex.
