Scientists Warn Against Link In Between Pesticides and Chronic Kidney Disease

( — July 13, 2022) Orlando, FL — Pesticides and a range of chemicals have long been studied due to their impacts on human health. It is worth noting that in multiple research studies, they have been found to trigger the onset of certain diseases.

A University of Queensland study has revealed a link between a commonly available pesticide and the heightened risk of chronic kidney disease (CKD).

Scientists looked into the associations between pesticide exposure and the odds of having kidney dysfunction in 41,847 individuals. It was through the use of data from the USA National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES).

“The study found people exposed to higher amounts of the insecticide Malathion, known as Maldison in Australia, had 25 percent higher risk of kidney dysfunction,” said School of Public Health Associate Professor, Nicholas Osborne.

“Nearly one in 10 people in high-income countries show signs of CKD, which is permanent kidney damage and loss of renal function,” he added.

Health authorities have long been warning against the risk factors of developing CKD, such as hypertension, age, and diabetes. It is worth warning that in low-to-middle income countries like Sri Lanka, India, and Mesoamerica, rates of CKD without known cause were rising.

“Initially, it was suspected the condition was associated with agricultural workplaces through exposure to heat stress, dehydration, pesticide spraying, heavy metals, and agrochemicals,” Dr. Osborne said.

“However, environmental contamination, pesticide residues, and herbal medicines potentially containing heavy metals may also be contributing to CKD.”

The UQ study was the first to highlight evidence associating Malathion with the risk of poor kidney health in humans.

“The findings suggest we should limit our exposure to pesticides, even in very small doses, as chronic exposure may lead to negative health outcomes,” Dr. Osborne said.

Toxins and pesticides are undeniably found everywhere today. What makes it alarming is that they are found to wreak havoc on health. This is why it is best to take the measures found helpful in lessening exposure to these chemicals.

It may also be helpful to have a body detox, which helps reduce the body’s toxic burden. The use of activated charcoal is recommended for body cleansing.

Today, more and more health-conscious and budget-wise consumers turn to the use of extra-strength formulas like Divine Bounty Activated Charcoal.
