(Newswire.net — September 12, 2022) Orlando, FL — Diet has long been found to play a significant role in the prevention or development of certain diseases. It even is associated with increased odds of mortality.

A study was carried out and published in The British Medical Journal.

Carried out by the SFU health sciences professor Scott Lear, it has been found that consumption of a high number of refined grains is linked with a higher risk of major cardiovascular disease, a higher risk of major cardiovascular disease. These particularly include refined grains like croissants and white bread.

The Prospective Urban Rural Epidemiology (PURE) study has been looking into diets from diverse populations in low-, middle- and high-income countries around the globe. It involved more than 16 years of analysis of 137,130 participants in 21 countries, including Canada.

The investigators found that consumption of added sugars and refined grains has greatly increased over the years.

In this research, the grains were actually categorized into three groups namely refined grains, whole grains, and white rice. It is worth noting that refined goods include refined flour, such as white bread, pasta/noodles, breakfast cereals, crackers, and bakery products/desserts containing refined grains.

Whole grains, on the other hand, included intact or cracked whole grains (eg. steel cut oats) and whole grain flours (e.g. buckwheat).

The researchers found a link between intake of more than seven servings of refined grains per day and a 27 percent greater risk for early death. It was also linked with a 33 percent greater risk for heart disease and a 47 percent greater risk for stroke.

“This study re-affirms previous work indicating a healthy diet includes limiting overly processed and refined foods,” says Lear.

It is worth stressing there were no significant adverse health effects in the consumption of whole grains or white rice.

Simon Fraser University conducted the study. The researchers examined diets from diverse populations in low, middle, and high-income countries.

Heart disease continues to be one of the major killers today. This is why experts are increasingly recommending some measures helpful in protecting and improving heart health.

In addition to making dietary and lifestyle improvements, there are also certain remedies like curcumin that may be helpful. Curcumin has strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits and has been able to demonstrate its ability to fight diseases and promote longevity.

It is widely obtained nowadays through the use of formulas like Divine Bounty Curcumin (http://amazon.com/Turmeric-Curcumin-BioPerine-Pepper-Extract/dp/B00VSVKJ8I).
