(Newswire.net — September 21, 2022) Orlando, FL — Studies looking into the techniques helpful in filtering water more efficiently continue to pile up. It is worth noting that in several studies, it has been found certain ingredients are helpful.

The Université Laval researchers carried out a study and found that the use of an activated-carbon filtering pitcher is most effective in lessening disinfection by-products in tap water.

The findings of this research were published in the scientific journal Water Research.

It was funded by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, and carried out by researchers Steven Lévesque, Christine Beaulieu, Jean Sérodes, François Proulx, and Manuel Rodriguez, from Université Laval’s Center for Research in Regional Planning and Development.

The study measured concentrations of the two main drinking water disinfection by-products in samples subjected to various types of indoor handling. It is worth noting these by-products are trihalomethanes (THMs) and haloacetic acids (HAAs).

It is worth noting that these by-products were made from chemical reactions between chlorine, which is used to disinfect water, and organic matter that is normally found in it.

“They don’t affect the smell or the flavor of water, but in high concentrations, they are suspected of increasing the risk of certain types of cancer,” points out Rodriguez.

Scientists subjected samples that were collected in private residences to three treatments frequently utilized to improve the taste, smell, and appearance of water. These treatments involved storing water in the refrigerator, boiling water and then storing it in the refrigerator, and filtering water with an activated-carbon filtering pitcher followed by storage in the refrigerator.

It has been found that after 48 hours, the treatments lessened THMs by respectively 30 percent, 87 percent, and 92 percent. However, it is worth noting that the results were less convincing with HAAs: direct storage and storage after boiling had no effect on AHAs.

Today, activated charcoal is widely used through supplementation. This therapeutic ingredient has long been researched due to its impressively porous surface, which serves as a magnet to toxins and unhealthy substances.

It is worth noting activated charcoal is actually used as a teeth whitener, an ingredient for water filtration, a cure for hangovers and food poisoning, and body detox. This is why today, it is widely resorted to through the use of superior-strength supplements like Divine Bounty Activated Charcoal.

There are many health-conscious and budget-wise consumers who turn to the use of this remedy. It is believed widely to be better than other brands and is made carefully in an FDA-inspected facility in the U.S (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071NZ5G57).
