New Study Highlights Food List That Combat Rheumatoid Arthritis

( — October 18, 2022) Orlando, FL — Today, more and more researchers are looking into ways to help combat painful conditions like rheumatoid arthritis. The good news is that in many research studies, experts found many foods have strong RA-fighting benefits. 

A study was carried out and published in Frontiers in Nutrition.

In this research, the investigators were able to come up with a list of food items that have proven beneficial impacts on rheumatoid arthritis symptoms and progression. These particularly include items like olive oil, canary seed, blueberries, and green tea.

Dr. Gupta completed this study together with Ms. Shweta Khanna and Mr. Kumar Sagar Jaiswal at the Disease Biology Lab, School of Biotechnology, KIIT University, India. 

“Incorporating probiotics into the diet can also reduce the progression and symptoms of this disease,” she adds. 

Due to the findings of this research, the investigator strongly recommends switching from omnivorous diets, alcohol consumption, and smoking to Mediterranean, vegan, elemental, or elimination diets.

It is worth realizing that these are usually the techniques recommended by their doctor or dietician.

This condition leads to symptoms like swelling, pain, and stiffness in the joints that have severe effects on quality of life. It can be hard to detect the early onset of the condition. Health authorities strongly recommend getting an early diagnosis as it could result in a rapid progression in the first few years. 

“Supporting disease management through food and diet does not pose any harmful side effects and is relatively cheap and easy,” Dr. Gupta explains. 

“Doctors, physicians, and dieticians can use our study to summarize current proven knowledge on the links between certain foods and rheumatoid arthritis. Knowing the nutritional and medicinal requirements of their patients they can then tailor this information for the betterment of their health,” further adds. 

Today, researchers are increasingly investigating the impacts of taking measures like dietary improvements in reducing arthritis symptoms. It is worth noting that therapeutic compounds in kitchen ingredients like turmeric may be helpful.
