(Newswire.net — October 18, 2022) Orlando, FL — On a global scale, depression has been found to affect 121 million individuals. It is important to be warned that this mental health issue has been found to account for 850,000 deaths annually.

In a new study published in the BMC Medicine journal, it has been found that 15 percent of the population belonging to high-income countries were likely to suffer from depression. Its rates have been found to be specifically high in the Netherlands, France, and the United States.

This mental health issue is actually considered to be the top cause of disability. It also leads to hospitalizations, especially from psychotic depression.

The skyrocketing rates of depression produce an increasing prescription of medications like antidepressants. The adverse effects of these medications, however, have led experts to warn against their use.

According to researchers, antidepressants work in improving the mood of sufferers. This means triggering them to feel less helpless and hopeless. While these appear to be an improvement, it is also worth noting that they can feel these and still be in a state of depression.

This then results in the conclusion that suicide is a way out. This also means that a reduction in the symptoms of depression actually increases suicidal tendencies.

Aside from suicidal tendencies, it is also worth noting that antidepressants may also promote violent behaviors.

A 2015 Swedish study has even shown that those taking certain antidepressants were convicted of a violent crime compared to those not taking the medications.

More studies are still being carried out to explore more of the techniques to aid in depression without solely relying on the use of these pharmaceutical drugs.

It is interesting to note that today, the scientific community actually continues to find potentially helpful remedies for depression. Remedies like the antioxidant called resveratrol may be useful.

In studies, resveratrol has been found to produce relieving effects on depression and anxiety. The researchers from the University at Buffalo in collaboration with Xuzhou Medical University in China even reveal it could control an enzyme in the brain that is likened to stress.

Some other studies even show it could be a useful treatment for individuals with depression and anxiety disorders.

Aside from its antidepressant benefits, the use of resveratrol has long been found to produce many other disease-fighting effects. This is why today, it is widely consumed via supplementation. One of the supplements being widely resorted to by consumers is Divine Bounty Resveratrol (http://www.amazon.com/Resveratrol-Supplement-Strength-Extract-capsules/dp/B019C0UU5S).
