(Newswire.net — November 14, 2022) Orlando, FL — Antibiotics are popularly used as a treatment for urinary tract infections (UTIs). While these medications are useful, it is worth noting that their use is linked with certain side effects.

A study warns against a clear link between antibiotic intake and the increased risk of developing colon cancer within the next five to ten years.

This research carried out by investigators at Umeå University, Sweden, was based on a study of 40,000 cancer cases. The effect of antibiotics on the intestinal microbiome is believed to lie behind the increased risk of cancer.

“The results underline the fact that there are many reasons to be restrictive with antibiotics. While in many cases antibiotic therapy is necessary and saves lives, in the event of less serious ailments that can be expected to heal anyway, caution should be exercised,” said explains Sophia Harlid, a cancer researcher at Umeå University.

“Above all to prevent bacteria from developing resistance but, as this study shows, also because antibiotics may increase the risk of future colon cancer.”

The study used data involving  40,000 patients from the Swedish Colorectal Cancer Registry from the period 2010-2016.

It has been particularly found that both women and men treated with antibiotics for over six months had a 17 percent increased risk of developing cancer in the ascending colon than those who were not prescribed any antibiotics.

It is worth noting the ascending colon is the first part of the colon to be reached by food after the small intestine.

It is, however, important to mention that no increased risk was found for cancer affecting the descending colon. Heightened risk of rectal cancer in men taking antibiotics was also absent.

There are many issues associated with the use of the medication and one is antibiotic resistance. The good news is that there are certain plant-based ingredients found to be potentially helpful against it.

All-natural remedies like D-mannose may be potentially helpful in lessening the rates of antibiotics. This is due to the fact that it could help prevent and treat urinary tract infections, the prevalence of which drives the use or overuse of antibiotics.

Using superior-strength supplements like Divine Bounty D-mannose is an excellent way to benefit from the healing goodness of this remedy.

There are many interesting things about this formula and one is that it is made according to strict Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) guidelines in an FDA-inspected facility in the U.S. (http://amazon.com/D-Mannose-600mg-Cranberry-Dandelion-Extract/dp/B01LX5KGF0)
