The Triangle Area is great for raising a family whether you live in Chapel Hill, Raleigh, or Durham. The school quality in the area is extremely high and the professional opportunities are countless. The summer can be a challenging time to keep everyone entertained. You might have kids that want to just lounge around the house but this is not a reality for those with young kids. Planning activities for the week and weekend should be done throughout the summer. Giving the kids something to look forward to can also help encourage proper behavior during these months. The following are ways that you can have fun as a family with kids in the Raleigh area.

Summer Camps

A Raleigh summer camp can come in a number of different forms. There are plenty of camps for athletics over the summer at the major universities. Some of these camps even have kids stay in dorms with chaperones. These camps can give a great idea of what college athletics can be like and the lifestyle of a student-athlete.

Other camps can be dictated by the interests of your child. A technology camp might allow them to grow their skills in something they are passionate about. The beauty of summer camps is that it exposes your child to a wide array of new people. There are likely friendships that will be garnered there that could last a lifetime as technology has made it seamless to stay in touch.

Get Fit As A Family

Getting into shape as a family can be a goal to work towards together. The weather will be great so taking a nice stroll through the city can be great. There are so many different areas to explore whether it is a park in the area or historical monuments. Local gyms are also an option as some are very kid-friendly with areas for children to have fun. Others even have a daycare inside of them so parents can get a workout in.

Take Advantage Of The Warm Weather

Warm weather can allow you to do a number of things like visit Lake Jordan. Going for a swim is always an option as there are public pools along with creeks/lakes to swim in. The beach is only a couple of hours away and the Outer Banks provide a great natural and cultural experience. The mountains in the western part of the state can be great for camping or hiking. The weather during the summer can be overly warm so do not forget to hydrate regardless of what you are doing.

The summer does not have to be full of boredom for the children or yourself. Take the time to ensure that they rejuvenate from the year of school while still staying active. Too many times parents use this time to put their kids to work when they really just wish they had some form of summer vacation. Use this summer vacation to see how you can make it the best one ever for your family.
