Do You Need to Stay Close to Birmingham Airport Overnight?

(Newswire.net — April 16, 2018) — There could be several reasons why it is easier to stay at an airport and find a hotel very close by. It could be because of a long wait between connecting flights, or it could be that you have a very early boarding time and want to be near enough to ensure you do not miss your plane. In either of these situations, or if your plane is delayed and you miss your connection, it is worth considering whether you need to stay close to Birmingham Airport overnight.

Long Haul Flights

There are instances where you are travelling a long distance and have connections to make that have a long waiting time between them. For instance, if you want to fly from Mallorca in the Balearic Isles to Perth in Australia, there are two main flight paths that can be taken, one via Dubai and the other via Singapore.  The problem is that you cannot fly to either of these places from Mallorca. You first of all have to take a flight to an international airport such as Birmingham.

The flight from Mallorca is just 2.5 hours, but at certain times of year they are few and far between, sometimes in the winter months there are only two flights to Birmingham a week. You could easily find you have a 12-hour, or longer wait till your flight to Dubai or Singapore takes off, and then you might be glad to spend some time in one of the airport hotels.

A Long Weekend

If you have planned a long weekend away in somewhere like Paris or Rome, you may need to park your car for the length of time you are away. Birmingham airport parking is simple to use, and is inexpensive. It is even cheaper if you pre-book your parking space. There is also the Meet and Greet service where a uniformed driver will take your keys from you at a designated Meet and Greet area at Departures. They will park your car for you, and bring it back upon your return.

Alternatively, you could spend the night before you fly in one of the Birmingham airport hotels with parking and leave your vehicle at the hotel for the duration of your break. The hotels will include this in the cost of your stay with them, and with such hotels as the Novotel and Ibis being close to the terminals, you are within walking distance of being able to get to your check-in desk. There are several other hotels very close by, the furthest of them being just 10 minutes away by road, so you could easily catch a taxi which the hotel will arrange if requested.  Further information can be found at birminghamparking.com.

Alternatives to Airport Parking

The only real alternative to airport parking is to be dropped off at departures by friends, relatives or a taxi and arrange to be picked up at the airport when you return. This can work out more expensive than parking your car in one of the car parks while you are away. The cost of someone parking in the short stay is free for the first half hour, but what if your plane is delayed by an hour or more? Then the cost is over £30, with £5 added for each full five-minute extra wait.

Pre-booking your parking has to be the best option. It is so much cheaper because it allows the operators to control the amount of parking they have to deal with, and that is important because of security and safety issues.

Wherever your destination, consider whether it may be practical to book into a hotel the night before your flight.
