(Newswire.net — April 23, 2019) — Coming home after a long day at work is hard when you don’t have a relaxing environment to come home to. The following 5 things will transform your home into the perfect place to relax and unwind:

1. A Japanese soaking tub

A Japanese soaking tub – also known as ‘Ofuro’ – is a deep tub that allows you to submerge yourself completely into the water. The purpose is relaxation that mimics soaking in the hot springs, so you’ll want to bathe first before getting in.

There are many benefits to soaking in a tub of hot water. The traditional Hinoki wood (cypress) is aromatic, anti-bacterial, and rot-resistant. Ironically, although it’s deep, a one-person Japanese soaking tub uses less water than a traditional bathtub.

The water is traditionally hotter than a hot tub for detoxification purposes. However, you can always choose the right temperature for you.

If you want to try it out before investing in one, you might have a local wellness center that offers a soaking session. The commercially available soaking sessions are generally between one and two hours, but you don’t spend the entire time in the tub. Most people soak for a little while, then take a cool shower and sit in a massage chair and then get back in the tub.

There’s a tray placed across the tub that can hold a cup of water, a book, and some essential oils to rub on your chest and inhale the vapors.

When you own a soaking tub, that spa experience can be recreated at home anytime you want.

2. A fireplace

Some days you just want to sit on the couch, put your feet up, and sip a glass of wine by the fire. If you don’t already have a built-in fireplace, you’ve got plenty of options. You can get an electric fireplace mounted to your wall, or even a free-standing fireplace on wheels. Granted, they won’t burn actual wood, but that’s good news for you because it means no cleanup is involved.

3. A towel warmer

Whether you’re taking a bath, a shower, or coming out of a Japanese soaking tub, nothing beats a warm towel. Towel warmers are inexpensive and available at almost any hardware store and even online.

The easiest way to install a towel warmer is to get the kind that mounts to the wall and plugs into an electrical outlet. That way, you don’t need to call an electrician or a plumber. You will just have to hide the cord.

If you don’t mind paying for professional installation, you can get a towel warmer that looks seamless when installed that gets hard-wired directly into the wall.

In the winter, you can use a towel warmer to keep your clothes warm before getting dressed, too.

4. A meditation room

Having a separate meditation room is a fantastic way to relax any time you need a little “me” time. If you don’t have a complete room to convert to a meditation room, find a corner in a low-traffic area of your house. All you need is a chair or a pillow, some earplugs, and a blindfold and you’re good to go!

5. Surround sound

Surround sound isn’t just for pumping hard-hitting dance music through the house. You can use a surround sound system to feed relaxing music throughout the house, or those inspirational audios you like to listen to.

Before going into a meditation, pop in a relaxing CD like Wholetones, or stream your favorite Pandora station through the house.

Make relaxing an important part of your day

Take time to relax each day. While everything listed in this article will enhance the relaxation experience, you can make the best of what you already have. Relax in a hot shower, or sit in the bathtub with the lights out and candles lit. Read a book on the porch. Lie down on your bed and close your eyes. At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter how you relax; all that matters is that you do relax.
